Honeywell L7000: How to Install the 3GL Cellular Communicator?
Today we are going to show you how to install the Honeywell 3GL cellular communicator into the LYNX Touch L7000 wireless security system.
To install the Honeywell 3GL cellular communicator depress the two tabs located on the top of the Honeywell L7000 wireless security system. I like to you use a small flat head screw to open the panel. Take the GSM chip that comes with the 3gl cellular communicator. Locate the side on the chip that says gsm. That part will slide into the female slot on the 3gl cellular communicator. Once that has been completed locate the 3 screw terminals in the bottom left of the system and as shown on our video. Align the screws and communicator in their designated slots. Once all three screws have been inserted your communicator is now in place. Locate the Mac and Mac Crc numbers off of the communicator and make note of that as you will need this to activate cellular monitoring with GEOARM. Plug in your backup battery make sure your transformer is wired correctly, seal the panel up and plug in your transformer.
The Honeywell 3GL replaced the discontinued 4GL cellular module. The 4GL was discontinued because it was misleading to the consumer because the 4GL did not have the ability to use the 4g AT&T networks. Since the discontinuation of the 4GL along came the Honeywell AlarmNet 3GL cellular communicator.
The Honeywell 3GL is an Alarmnet cellular communication module that can be installed into alternate Honeywell security system's including the LYNX Touch L5200, L5210 and L7000 wireless security systems. By adding the 3GL cellular module to your security system will allow for you to begin professional central station alarm monitoring and the use of total connect 2.0 interactive services. Total Connect 2.0 is a service that works in conjunction with your alarm and allows you to arm/disarm and receive notifications to your smart devices such as iphone, ipad, and desktop computers.
The 3GL cellular module is the most important addition to your home or business security system that you can have. The reason being is when you decide to go with a Phone line or internet security system you risk having your security system fail it’s signal communication if the power or phone cables are cut from the outside of the location. By adding the 3GL Cellular Module to your alarm system it can be powered off of the panel’s internal back up battery for 4-6 hours even if the power goes out or someone cuts the phone line and internet cables. You can add a higher capacity backup battery to your system giving it up to 24 hours of backup battery time giving you even more protection.
If you are looking for the most reliable communication path to the central station you should consider using dual path alarm monitoring services. This will require you to have both the L5100-WIFI Card and the 3GL cellular module. By default the alarm system will only allow you to have internet as the primary communication path and the 3GL Cellular Card as the backup communication path.
