Alarm.com SEM Vista-10P: Installation Instructions

Here you will learn how to install an Alarm.com SEM (System Enhancement Module) for use with compatible Honeywell Vista 10p security system.

Equipment

Please locate the following equipment:

  • System Enhancement Module
  • Wire and Fuse
  • Screws and Wall Anchors
  • Small blade screwdriver and Phillips screwdriver
  • 22/4 stranded wire
  • Alpha keypad (recommended for install) "Honeywell 6160"
The Alarm.com ADC-SEM-100-CDMA is compatible with Vista 10p security systems that have a manufacturing date of 2005 + use or the image below to verify that your panel is indeed compatible.

The Installer Code should be entered during account creation. Please verify that this code works on the panel.

Enable Keypad Address

Keypad 8 Device Address 23 needs to be enabled for the SEM to communicate with the panel. To do this, go into panel programming and select *196 + [10] + *99. Also, it is important that there are no other devices addressed to 23, and that there are no other cellular communicators on the system.

Disconnect Power

Verify that the panel is DISARMED, remove AC power, and disconnect the battery.

Then, insert the SEM circuit board into the backplate.

Wire the SEM

Wire the SEM using the diagram below.

”KEYPAD IN” (SEM) is connected to “#7” (Vista).

”+12V” (SEM) is connected via the included wire with a fuse to the battery.

Power Up the Panel

Connect the battery and restore AC power. The panel will begin scrolling through the zones and automatically changing the panel settings needed for the SEM to communicate. These settings can be found in the Install Guide.

Wait…

The panel will finish scrolling through the zones and the keypad will show the home screen.

WAIT—Do not touch the panel for three minutes or until you hear a beep.

Change Master User Code

Leaving the SEM connected and powered on, change the Master User Code to a new code. The SEM will recognize the new code and update it on Alarm.com.

The Master User Code can be changed by entering:

Installer Code+[8]+[02]+New Master Code

Delete All User Codes

The SEM is designed to work seamlessly with Alarm.com interactive services, including user code management. However, the SEM cannot read the user codes stored on the panel prior to the SEM being installed.

To enable user code management, all existing user codes must be deleted at the panel and re-entered the first time the user logs in to Alarm.com.

There is a Delete All User Codes option available on MobileTech. This may take up to 10 minutes. Do not touch the SEM, panel, or keypad during this time.

Z-Wave Devices

You should now be ready to add and/or delete Z-Wave devices.

Z-Wave enrollment is easy and should be the same as other Alarm.com installs.

Please reference the SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista Z-Wave Manual, available on the Dealer Site Support Resources page, if you have any questions.

*Troubleshooting Tips if the above doesn't work

The Installer Code entered during account creation is incorrect, but I will fix it later.

Enable Keypad Address

If Address 23 is already used by another device, identify an available keypad address and the DIP switches on the SEM.

Enable Keypad Address

Change the DIP switches on the SEM to match the corresponding keypad address.

Keypad Address DIP Switch Setting VISTA Programming Menu
